Une fois n’est pas coutume, Jamel Shabazz fait son grand retour dans le nord de la France. Il semblerait même que ce soit son baroud d’honneur.
Il était déjà venu faire un état des lieu de Roubaix il y a quelques années, puis les clichés avaient été exposés à La Piscine (il y a près de dix ans…)
Cette fois, c’est une retrospective de trente ans de photo que la ville de Lille présentera à la maison Folie Wazemmes.

En digne successeur de William Klein, Jamel Shabazz a donné sa vision de New York, mettant en avant la communauté afro-américaine et le hip-hop émergent lors des années 70. Son oeil unique et ses photographies colorées font désormais partie du patrimoine américain, et sont incontournables. Il semblerait que cette exposition / rétrospective soit la dernière du genre, Jamel ne souhaitant plus vraiment arpenter le monde (pour l’instant…) Vous en saurez plus ICI, sinon il suffit de cliquer sur les images pour avoir un aperçu de son travail (il faut surtout cliquer sur le portrait réalisé par Tavu, vous pourrez voir la photographie que Jamel a fait des skaters de Lille lors de son passage à Roubaix…)
