Au Bal avec d’Agata
Des photographies étonnamment dérangeantes, de la part d’un photographe qui ne l’est pas moins. Antoine d’Agata, maintes fois copié, jamais égalé, a un statut unique dans le monde de la photographie. Il fascine, avec des images sales et brutales, il surprend car entier, incernable, indiscernable. Il fait corps avec une œuvre sensible et poignante. Le personnage est à l’image de ses photos : pas facile à apprivoiser, à comprendre, à entendre. Un être rugueux, habité, lunaire, loin, perdu dans ses pensées, ses expériences, ses abus et ses vices. Metteur en scène de sa vie crue, dangereuse et violente, il partage intimités poisseuses et odeurs nauséabondes, sans filtre, sans pudeur, sans gêne. Quand on s’immisce dans ses clichés, l’expérience devient sensuelle.
D’Agata expose au Bal à Paris, et dans quelques jours à la galerie Les Filles du Calvaire. Il est officiellement chez Magnum, l’agence fondée par Cartier-Bresson. Il a commencé la photographie à 30 ans. Il a été élève de Larry Clark et Nan Goldin. Il est père de 4 filles. Antoine d’Agata arpente le monde, avide de sensations nouvelles, revient régulièrement en France voir sa famille, monte actuellement un film où les femmes ont la parole, répond douloureusement à un journaliste de France Inter - ci-dessus -, sait qu’il est sur le fil, la corde, jamais très loin du précipice, donne plus qu’il ne reçoit, montre ce que l’on ne veut pas voir, expérimente pour que nous n’ayons pas à le faire. Antoine d’Agata est un extraordinaire témoin de notre temps, un acteur de la décadence, arbitre du malheur, un émouvant terrien en quête…
